Popular City Breaks Around The World

Madrid, the capital city of Spain, has been one of the most interesting cities in the world and one of the most popular places to have a city break. It is currently the largest city in Spain, and spans a total of 604km. The city is located on the Manzanares River which is in the centre of the country and the community of Madrid. There are many sights and attractions that will keep you occupied in this city for at least a few days.

One of the most interesting things to see in Madrid is to visit the La Casa Encendida Museum, located at Ronda de Valencia 2. It is a new and exciting multidisciplinary centre in a beautiful building which was conceived as a space for cultural interchange. There are many emerging artists doing workshops and shows here, and it also holds a fair trade shop, a library, and classrooms for courses.

Another amazing place to visit in Madrid is the Centro Cultural Conde Duque. It was housed in former Barracks and built in the 18th century by Pedro de Ribera. It is a multicultural centre with around a dozen shows, based on history and art, and they are held annually in the 2 main exhibition spaces. This centre has been getting an incredible amount of recognition lately, due to its forward thinking projects, which is a must for people looking for something fresh and exciting.

Another fantastic sight in Madrid is the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. It is an 85,000-seater football stadium, home of the local team Real Madrid. It is open most days, and it is possible to take in a tour of the stadium which shows you around the huge arena, and into the museum where you can learn about the history of the club and the city.

On the evening in Madrid, the city is extremely vibrant, with restaurants and bars opening until very late in the evening. Head on over to the Barrios area, and pick one of the many local Tapas bars, which of course is one of Spain’s main culinary offerings.
While on holiday if you’re planning on spending quite a bit, it might be better to consider avoid carrying sums of cash around, and rather carry a credit card with you instead. You may even be able to benefit from some rewards on your spending so check out how you could benefit online.
